Must have an unbroken chain going back to the Prophet Muhammad salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam or the knowledge which they learn going back to the original teacher. This is a foundation in what it means to be a true shaykh.
|
- He helps you increase in your belief (iman) of Allah,
- He helps increase your fear and hope in Allah.
- He helps increase your love for the Prophet Muhammad salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
- When in the company of some of the mashayikh, you feel like you’re in the company of the Prophet salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
- He has the permission to give da’wah from his mashayikh (a very important point).
- He has adab in the way he executes the knowledge of shari’ah. He implements as much as he can the sunan of the Prophet salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
- He helps increase your love for the ummah, the Muslims at large. He does not increase your hatred towards other Muslims and does not throw words of kufr on other Muslims nor does he teach you to do that.
- His spiritual state affects you before he even speaks.
