Welcoming rabbi'al awwal
Alhamdullilahi Rab Al-Alameen, Wa Salat Wa Salam Ala Sayidina Muhammad, Wa Ala Alihi Wa Sahbihi Ajmaeen. All praise is due to Allah سبحانه و تعالى the one who sent us the best of creations صلى الله عليه و سلم. May the best of salutations be upon him صلى الله عليه و سلم. The one who was sent as a mercy to the worlds, the one who has the most illumined face, the one who has the purest of hearts, the one who has the softest of hands, the one who's presence is the best of presence, the one who's soul is the purest of souls, the one who's scent is the purest of scents. His name is Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم on earth and Ahmad in the skies and Taha, Yaseen, Muzamil, Mudathir in the Quran. Allah سبحانه و تعالى raised his head, voice and he will intercede for us on the day of Judgement. Allah سبحانه و تعالى made us a respected nation because of him. He was the one who was put through trials and tribulations. He is the closest to Allah سبحانه و تعالى and he is the most beloved to him. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى grant happiness to the one who understands this and serves him صلى الله عليه و سلم .May Allah سبحانه و تعالى grant us adab with him and grant us yearning for him and allow us to die in service to him صلى الله عليه و سلم How can we prepare for the blessed month of Rabee3 Al Awal? This is the sacred month in which our Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was born. The most reliable sources say that he صلى الله عليه و سلم was born on Monday the 12th of Rabee3 Al Awal. When this month enters upon us, it comes with it's lights, secrets, divine winds and breezes. This month has it's secrets which we must take advantage of. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم was a Prophet before Adam عليه السلام was ever created, therefore this status of Prophethood continues even throughout our time and the gift remains with us. The Muhammadan illumination is present for those who wish to receive the light from the Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. There is not much left of our lives, so we must take advantage of the blessing which Allah سبحانه و تعالى has sent us in the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and that is what we should occupy our time with. The Preparation starts with:
1) The Heart: Firstly, prepare your heart by reminding yourself that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم is the best blessing that Allah سبحانه و تعالى has granted you in your life. He صلى الله عليه و سلم is the best blessing in the entire existence of all creation. He is the best of gifts, he is the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. Remind yourself constantly of this blessing and tell yourself "I am from the Ummah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم, he is my Prophet and he is the one who will intercede for me. He صلى الله عليه و سلم is the one who Allah سبحانه و تعالى has made my heart and soul and every existence ready to meet on the day of judgement. He صلى الله عليه و سلم is the one whom Allah سبحانه و تعالى has given me that creed in my heart so I have the chance to shake his hand on the day of judgement. Every Prophet experiences the interaction with their nation so the nation of each Prophet has the chance to see their Prophet and to either believe in him or disbelieve. Like many of the previous nations mentioned in the Holy Quran. However, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم his body has left this life and after him came generations after generations whom believed in him. We are now bathing in his light and benefiting in his guidance. We yearn to meet him صلى الله عليه و سلم and we will meet him insha-Allah on the day of Judgement. The Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم loves you more than you can imagine and he yearns for you more than you can comprehend. He is in a state of ultimate yearning for you and he especially misses those whom feel that same sense of yearning for him and are in service to him. These people who served the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم whom existed in the past and exist today, take a share in the sorrow which the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم felt for his Ummah, they work for him and his Ummah and they wait for the very hour to leave this world so they can be united with their beloved. So much so that when the soul of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم yearns for a servant and the servant yearns for him صلى الله عليه و سلم, when the servants soul is about to leave it's body as it's going through the pangs of death, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم attends the parting of the soul from then body. He attends the death of the one that yearned for him and sacrificed day and night thinking of the Ummah and thinking of how to please him صلى الله عليه و سلم. The one that sacrificed their breaths and body for Allah سبحانه و تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم and thought about how to bring victory to the religion. This person during their death, they will be rewarded with the pleasure of seeing the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم standing before him. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى make us of these people. Ameen. If this dua is accepted, what a lucky person you are. A sign of Allah سبحانه و تعالى accepting your dua is by you making dua and a sign of Allah سبحانه و تعالى not accepting your dua is by you not making dua. Some people say that Allah سبحانه و تعالى will not accept my dua so they dont try to make dua. By remembering the blessing of the Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم then you start to plant the seeds of respect for him in your heart. You then think to yourself, how can I value this blessing and protect it? The natural response of the heart when it appreciates the value of something is it fears that it may lose it (fear that you may lose the blessing of Rasul- Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم). So when you have this fear in your heart, the reaction is; how can I protect it and ensure I don't lose it? If there is no fear in your heart, then surely you will neglect it and eventually lose it. Therefore, this fear generates in your heart a sense of value of this blessing, then Allah سبحانه و تعالى will inspire you and teach you how to protect yourself from losing this blessing. Be careful oh servants of Allah سبحانه و تعالى and protect this Muhammadan gift. There a several ways for the light of the Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم to spread within you. Any action which you perform like dawah, calling people to Allah سبحانه و تعالى, any characteristic you take on of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم in terms of his character, manners and sunnah's, all will allow the light to manifest within you. Your teacher is the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم, he is the one that taught you your religion, how to live, he taught you the best of manners, the sunnah's and etiquette. As you place all these actions into practice, a Muhammadan light is planted in your heart and as you continue with these actions, the light starts to multiply one after the other and the light becomes stronger in your heart and then it's said about you (in a realm you may not hear) that the Muhammadan light has been born within you. If this light is born within you, his light emanates from your eyes, tongue, face and body. It will emanate from your clothing then it will start to spread throughout your home and family who will also bathe in this Muhammadan lights. The blessing is spread and radiates around you. When the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم entered Al Madinah, the nasheed was recited to him that 'the moon has dawned upon us' , therefore, the light has come upon your hearts. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم came as a blessing and an honour to the worlds and therefore you become his representative.
Warning here that the opposite is also true. If a person were to neglect a sunnah or character trait or etiquitte of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and they belittle it, then the Muhammadan light is slowly removed from ones heart until the last of the lights leave your body. This person will die a slow death. A darkness overcomes this person and it is evident on their face and it affects those around them.Allah سبحانه و تعالى says in the Holy Quran;" Know that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم is within you." [49:7] Do not take these words lightly. They are the words of the creator Allah سبحانه و تعالى. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى make us firm and make us fit for the task until we meet Him insha-Allah.
How can we prepare ourselves in a practical manner for Rabee3 Al Awal so we benefit from the month and continue until our death, so when we die, it is said about us that we have truely fulfilled our contract with Allah سبحانه و تعالى and the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم left for us 3 things:
1) Sunnah
2) Adab (Etiquettes)
3) Akhlaq (Character)
If you combine all 3 in your life, then insha-Allah the Muhammadan light will emanate from your heart and spread into all areas of your body and soul. One of the signs that you have become successful in combing these 3 is that you perform them in a manner that Rasu- Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم actually recognises you on the day of judgement. He صلى الله عليه و سلمassociates you with him and says to you, you are one of us & you are from my family, because he see's of his presence in you.
Unfortunately, in this day and age many muslims do not combine all 3 because they are too busy with the world, busy with their selfs, stomachs, clothes, cars and accumulated wealth. Therefore, they dont have the time to learn about the greatest gift and blessing which Allah سبحانه و تعالى has sent to them. Allah سبحانه و تعالى has selected you and singled you out. He سبحانه و تعالى has raised you above the rest of mankind because he has given you the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم so appreciate this gift.
The different types of people:
1) Those that don't know any of the Sunnah's, manner's and character traits of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
The result of this is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم will not recognise them on the day of Judgement.
2) Those who implemented the Sunnah's but left out the manner's and character traits of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
The result of this is that Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم will recognise them as apart of his Ummah.
3) Those who implemented the Sunnah's and manner's but did not complete the character of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
This person is of the close (muqarabeen) to Rasul-Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم but they don't quite make it to the highest rank.
4) Those that combine all 3 - Sunnah's, manner's and character traits of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
This is the highest of ranks and the result is that this person is classified as a part of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and they are addressed, 'He is from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم is from him.' They are related not just through closeness but it is like they are limbs on one another, it's the ultimate form of closeness.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم used to say about his grandson Hussein,"Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein." [Sunan Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith no.3800, Vol.5 p. 429]
The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم also said about Ali, Karam-Allahu Wajha , "He is from me and I am from him." [Sahih Hadith no.2223, Vol.5, p.261]
Also, he صلى الله عليه و سلم would say about his beloved daughter Fatimah Al Zahrah, Radiya Allahu 3anhaa, "Fatimah is a part of me."
This is expressing the closest a person can be to another person. Insha-Allah we are one of them on the day of Judgement.
If you have sacrificed in this dunya and you have expended as much as you can out of your life and out of your body and wealth, even if you may not have achieved much outwardly and you pass away, when you are ressurected, Allah سبحانه و تعالى will bring His servant before Him and will make His servant recall of the best of blessings he had in his dunya. Therefore, if you die and in your heart you genuinely felt that the best blessing in your life was the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم then Allah سبحانه و تعالى will make you recall that blessing on the day of Judgement. Allah سبحانه و تعالى will ask you, do you remember the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم? Do you know him? Do you love him? Would you like to see him? Then, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم will be brought to you and you will be united with him صلى الله عليه و سلم and he صلى الله عليه و سلم will say to you, 'I missed you, I yearned for you, you are from me and I am from you.' What will be your feelings at that moment? This is the ultimate, highest level of Jannah. This is sucess. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى allow us this insha-Allah.
The Ulumah say that by combining all 3 of the above, that the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم is born within you and people will start to see this resemblance in you. As you increase in your sunnah's, manners and character traits, the resemblance to the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم gets stronger and stronger. It can resemble in the way you walk, in a persons voice or a physical resemblance. For example, Rasul-Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم addressed Jafar Al Saadeq Radialahu Anhu and said to him that he resembled him in appearance and character. Jafar Al Saadeq didn't know whether to be happier with this or the conquest of Khaybar. Hassan, the grandson of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم, resembled him in the way he walked and Fatimah Al Zahrah Radiya Allahu 3anhaa, resembled him in mysterious ways that she carried his thoughts, worries and burdens, she also walked like him.
When we speak about resemblances, we are not saying that they tried to copy, these resemblances came unconciously so the result was an automatic resemblance to the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. This is because the love filled their hearts and they implemented the Sunnah's, manners and characteristic traits that it overcame their entire being. Therefore, don't be surprised when you see somebody and it crosses your mind that they remind you of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. It is because of a combination of the above 3 which has taken root in a persons heart. One can resemble the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم in many ways, for example in your prayer, one can resemble the way he prostrated or in the recitation of the Holy Quran. We don't know where Allah سبحانه و تعالى will allow us to make a connection, it could be from a particular Sunnah which you implemented, no matter how big or small it may be. Therefore, be prepared and ready for a connection - if your phone is switched off or on silent, you will miss the call. Most often the connection is made during the time of Sahr, just a few moments before fajr. Allah سبحانه و تعالى speaks about Nuh عليه السلام and how he was rescued during the sahr time. This is when the victory and salvation came to them.
Would you like for all the Ulumah, rightious and all those who have a high rank with Allah سبحانه و تعالى to love you? They will love you if they see in you a resemblance to the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. It's is said that Rasul-Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم used to love his daughter Ruquaya Radiya Allahu 3anhaa dearly because she resembled her mother Khadijah Radiya Allahu 3anhaa whom he loved so much. She resembled her mother in her appearance and voice. Sometimes, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم would call out to her and she would sit before him and they would engage in conversation. He صلى الله عليه و سلم would then gaze upon her remembering his beloved wife. Ruquaya Radiya Allahu 3anhaa became succesful because of her voice and appearance and whom it resembled. Imagine if in you there was something that resembled the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. Who loves the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم the most? Allah سبحانه و تعالى . Therefore, Allah سبحانه و تعالى will not question, burden or punish you because you resemble his beloved Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. Don't ask why? The answer is Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. Allah سبحانه و تعالى addresses him صلى الله عليه و سلم on the day of Judgement and says, 'Oh Muhammad, raise your head, intercede and you will be granted.' Imagine which company this will be said in? The company of all the Prophets, Adam, Ibrahim, Musa, Isaa عليه السلام ... However, Allah سبحانه و تعالى will only hear from the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. What rank is this? What rank has Allah سبحانه و تعالى given the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم? If Allah سبحانه و تعالى has given such importance to the best of creation, it is encumbant upon each and everyone of us to try to resemble him صلى الله عليه و سلم as much as possible. Implement as much as you can and have the resemblance of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم in your life, actions, body and soul and be successful. Take of what the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم has given you and live in heaven on earth an heaven in the hereafter insha-Allah.
1) Sunnah's
Lets now define the Sunnah's or the way of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. It is usually tied to acts of worship, for example, wudu is an act of worship, we need to know all the Sunnah's of wudu. Prayer is an act of worship, so there are types of prayers that are Sunnah's as well as recitation of the Quran. Fasting is another example. We need to learn the Sunnah's from the Ulumah in order for us to gain closeness to Allah سبحانه و تعالى and to the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم.
2) Etiquittes (Adab)
Are usually tied to our daily habits or activities which every human being normally experiences such as sleeping. There are supplications that should be recited before going to sleep and upon waking up, entering the toilet and exiting, when getting dressed and undressed, before and after eating and drinking and upon leaving the home. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم used to do this in his daily life.
3) Character (Akhlaq)
This refers to everything in terms of our interaction with other people, how we interact with each other, those around us and our environment.
For us to achieve the highest rank, what is required from you are 3:
1) You are required to learn the Sunnah's, etiquittes and character traits of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
2) You are required to implement the Sunnah's, etiquittes and character traits of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.
3) You are required to teach others, and this is called da'wah. Calling people to Allah .
Unfortunately, not many people do this. They may implement the Sunnah in their lives but they don't share it with others. Allah سبحانه و تعالى say's in the Quran, "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way and He is most knowing of who is guided." [16:125]
May Allah سبحانه و تعالى allow us to fulfill all 3 insha-Allah and we begin with our family as this is the first point of da'wah. Habib Omar بارك الله فيه ونفعنا به teaches us that da'wah starts in the home such as teaching ones child to say Bismilah before eating. Da'wah can come in different forms such as the internet we are using, email, youtube etc. All the different modes of communication via the internet - all one needs is a keyboard and the button ENTER and you have engaged in a form of dawah. Allah سبحانه و تعالى has provided us with the entire universe for da'wah. We use these tools to bring success to the Prophet Muhammad and to spread the religion. Habib Hussein بارك الله فيه ونفعنا به says that the internet is for the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم, even if the people behind google and yahoo etc don't realise it and even though some may use it in the wrong way. The key behind this is that the internet has been sent for serving the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. Rasul-Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said that my religion (deen) will spread and it will spread on the backs of those whom want to spread it.
May Allah سبحانه و تعالى make us live as servants serving the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم and may Allah سبحانه و تعالى not withhold this from us. This rank is not for anyone. Yes, Allah سبحانه و تعالى selected us to enter into the Ummah but few are selected to serve Allah سبحانه و تعالى and the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. During the time of the people of Israel, there were monks that lived in their Monestry. Imagine for 70 years they lived without guidance and they were steadfast but Allah سبحانه و تعالى did not allow them to enter into Islam. They were not chosen to be of the Ummah of Rasul-Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم. Think of this blessing and gift that Allah سبحانه و تعالى has given you and be of those whom the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم will address them saying, 'You are from me'. Therefore lets be of those who serve the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم until the last beating of our hearts and our last breath and last blink of our eye. May we serve the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم to the very end insha-Allah.
It is not too far away until whatever word you type into google or any search engine and the result is MUHAMMAD, MUHAMMAD, MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه و سلم. Some may say this is strange or impossible, but this is the truth and we are not crazy.
This is the highest of ranks and the result is that this person is classified as a part of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and they are addressed, 'He is from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم is from him.' This is expressing the closest a person can be to another person. Insha-Allah we are one of them on the day of Judgement.
